Robin Blanc, Class of 1981 - Blanc recently had a story published in the anthology "Once Upon An Expat." She wrote about her childhood growing up in the Bahamas.
Blanc was born in Missouri, but grew up shuttling between her father's home in St. Louis and her mother's home in Nassau. According to her biography on Amazon.com, "This early exposure led to her love of travel and learning about new cultures: a French Club trip to Quebec in junior high; a high school exchange student in Brazil; a college junior term abroad in Vienna; and traveling to South Africa in grad school, the year after apartheid ended."
Blanc holds a bachelor's degree in international studies and a master’s degree in international relations. She has been an active volunteer with AFS Intercultural Programs since her return from Brazil. While teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) in Japan in 1989, she experienced first-hand the transition of an imperial reign when Akihito became emperor upon the death of his father, Hirohito. Blanc currently lives in Missouri.
