1999 alumnus and renowned drummer works with PHS students

Kim Thompson, Class of 1999 - Thompson returned to her alma mater to work with jazz band students as part of the Jazz St. Louis Artists in Residency program. Thompson is a renowned drummer in the pop and jazz world. A musician and teacher, she has toured with pop icon Beyonce, performed with fusion guitarist Mike Stern, was the original house drummer for "Late Night with Seth Meyers” during the television show's first season and has earned three Grammys.

She is founder and CEO of KTMUSICPRODUCTIONS. Thompson earned a bachelor's degree from the Manhattan School of Music in jazz performance and composition. While at Pattonville High School, she conducted a clinic for students in the jazz band under the direction of Pattonville band director (her former teacher) Denny McFarland. Other students in the school were invited to watch her work with the students.
