2016 graduate earns two prestigious scholarships

Dominick Gillette, Class of 2016 - Gillette was recognized by Southeast Missouri State University for earning two prestigious scholarships: the Purdy Emerging Leaders Scholarship and the Missouri Legislative Black Caucus Foundation's DeVerne Calloway Undergraduate Scholarship.

Gillette was one of 16 students to receive the Purdy scholarship, which is awarded to students who demonstrate academic merit, strong leadership potential and excellent character. He was one of six Southeast students to earn the DeVerne Calloway award, named for the first African-American woman elected to the Missouri Legislature. Students are selected based on academic performance, community service and leadership. Gillette is a sophomore corporate communications major with minors in entrepreneurship and integrated marketing communications.
