Janice Gettemeyer Sansone and Joan Gettemeyer, Class of 1980 - The Gettemeyer sisters have been chosen to be inducted into the 2015 class of the St. Louis Soccer Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will take place in October. Both were previously inducted in to the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) Sports Hall of Fame. They were both members of UMSL's first women's varsity soccer team in 1981. Janice was a three-time All-American selection in 1981, 1982 and 1983, and was a four-time All-Region selection. Janice also distinguished herself with a career as referee from 1977 to 2001. She was the first female referee to have FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) qualifications added to her resume. She refereed not only on the amateur level with high school state and college championships, but also on the professional scene. In 1995 and 1996 she was appointed to FIFA Panel of International Lineswomen and in 1997 she was named to the FIFA Panel of International Women Referees. Joan was was a four-time all-region selection and was a three-time All-American. In 1984, she was selected as an Academic All-American for her accomplishments off the field.
Marrtell Washington, Class of 2012 - Washington was featured in the Student Spotlight section of the recent College Connection newsletter published by College Bound, a St. Louis organization that provides promising students from under-resourced backgrounds with the academic enrichment, social supports and life skills needed to succeed in college and careers. According to the article, Washington is a junior at William Woods University, where he is on the executive board of Phi Gamma Delta, runs track, has a work study position and is involved in film club, creative writing club and the recycling committee.
