Michelle (Garofalo) McKinley, Class of 2003, has been selected as the Wentzville School District Teacher of the Year for 2014-2015. She is a second-grade teacher at Duello Elementary School.
Candidates were judged on the respect and admiration of students, parents and colleagues. Selection is also based on their ability to inspire and educate students of all backgrounds and abilities. This is McKinley’s sixth year teaching at Duello, where she has taught both first and second grade. McKinley holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Missouri and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction through the Mizzou Fellowship Program.
“Michelle is always thinking of others, always smiling, has a great attitude and LOVES her children” said Duello Elementary Principal Dr. Melvin Bishop. “She is a dedicated teacher whose students are excited to work and learn with her every day and she is well respected by her peers.”
McKinley is now eligible to compete in the Missouri Teacher of the Year program.
