2013 alumna competes with mine rescue team from Missouri S & T

Suzanne Taylor, Class of 2013 - Taylor is a member of a student team from the Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S & T) that placed ninth at the Southern Regional Mine Rescue Competition in New Iberia, Louisiana.

According to an article on the university's website, the "competition involves a simulated mine disaster that is set up and monitored by the federal Mine Safety and Health Administration. In addition to the rescue simulation, other events include first aid, gas testing and maintaining a complex self-contained breathing apparatus. Written exams are also administered."

Taylor is currently a junior at Missouri S & T, pursing a degree in mine engineering.
