Two alumni elected to state office during mid-term election

Paula Brown, Class of 1982, and Doug Clemens, Class of 1986 - Brown and Clemens were elected to state office during the mid-term elections on Nov. 6.

Brown was elected as state representative for District 70. She holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a master's degree from Lindenwood University. Since 1986, she has worked as an elementary school teacher, middle school librarian and an administrator for the Hazelwood School District. She served as the Hazelwood NEA president for eight years.

Clemens was elected as state representative for the 72nd District. He earned a degree in political science-international relations and economic studies at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He works with a company installing live captioning phones in the homes of the hearing impaired through the Americans with Disabilities Act at no cost to the recipients. He was a founding member and first chairman of the West Lake/Bridgeton Landfill Community Advisory Group.
