Nico Shumpert, Class of 2007 - Shumpert returned to his alma mater to share his culinary expertise with students in Tracie Olson’s culinary arts class.
Shumpert gave a cooking demonstration using the concept of molecular gastronomy, a branch of science dealing with the physical and chemical processes that take place during cooking. The term is also used to describe the concept using science to transform the tastes and textures of food. He also cooked chicken using the sous vide method of vacuum-sealing food and cooking it in a low-temperature water bath.
Shumpert and his wife Ebony (also a Pattonville alum) own the company Bliss, where they offer catering and “pop-up dinners.”
